SIMTRONICS was established in June of 1991 as a retail business specializing in electronics surrounding the needs of the Amateur Radio community. From 1991 up through 2003, we had developed into a leader in home electronics, cellular phone sales and home satellite TV systems in Upstate New York.
Simtronics also did contract work that was responsible for installing complex in-building cellular antenna distribution systems in commercial locations from Buffalo to Albany. Simtronics was one of the early participants in the satellite based Internet systems by Pegasus, DirecPC, Diercway and WildBlue. This work led the owner of Simtronics to explore the increasing interest of the rural communities in central New York need for high speed Internet connectivity.
In 2004, Airxcess Inc. was born into reality and was focused on providing wireless high speed Internet to homes and businesses in the Finger Lakes region of NY. A network of Access Point sites were developed and hundreds of underserved consumers were provided Internet services without the use of telephone lines or satellite dishes. In 2007, the company assets were sold and Airxcess Inc. was disolved with the intent to grow a much larger network with a greater number of resources.
In November 2009, Simtronics owner and Airxcess founder Dave Simmons purchased back the Airxcess assets and is running the Airxcess Broadband Internet service brand under the Simtronics company name. It has become the focus and intent to increase not only the networks size and coverage, but to also re-balance the existing network to compensate the increased traffic needs of their existing customers.
